Over the past 10 years, Withers has filed reports from across the country, broadcasting tornado outbreaks in the Midwest, the Maui wildfires, blizzards, the Great American Drought in the Western U.S., earthquake clusters, flash flooding in Kentucky and Vermont, as well as big landfalling hurricanes in Florida and along the Gulf Coast. During his career, he has received four national Emmy Awards.
Withers has had a lifelong fascination with severe weather, which was inspired in the middle of his career. After being a TV journalist and producer for 20 years, he returned to school in pursuit of his meteorology degree. He goes on storm-chasing trips across the country with his rescue dog, Cane.
