Much of her career has been spent in Alaska, where she served KTUU Channel 2 from April 2020 to March 2022, KTVA 11 News from June 2010 to August 2016, and KTVF from May to December 2009. She also worked at KGUN in Tucson, Arizona, in 2012.
Fernandez has gone on assignments across Alaska and in Iceland. In Iceland, she did a series about the nation’s geothermal energy, winning her an Emmy Award nomination. During her tenure in Tucson, she provided coverage for a wide range of stories about the Arizona-Mexico border, immigration, and the aftermath of the shooting in 2011 that claimed the lives of 6 and critically injured Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. Besides her Emmy nominations, the Alaska Broadcaster’s Association has also been recognized her work.
