She loves being in the Lowcountry for its Southern hospitality, food, and proximity to her family and friends. She has spent over 3 decades in the television and radio industry. Her interest in helping people triggered her focus on reporting on pocketbook and job issues. During the pandemic, she utilized streaming platforms to virtually connect employers with job candidates, as companies were unable to host in-person job fairs. Her segment “Now Hiring” is now a staple in the station.

Before working at WCSC, McGill worked at WGHP Greensboro-High Point, North Carolina, as a reporter and anchor from July 1994 to October 2001. She worked at WDXZ Radio in Mt Pleasant, South Carolina, from 1989 to 1991. In addition, she worked at WCOS Radio in Columbia from 1987 to 1989. She believes that news should be a story that speaks for itself.

McGill’s most interesting assignment took her to Charleston in the aftermath of Hurricane Hugo, where she had the unique opportunity to broadcast special reports featuring Oprah Winfrey and Prince Charles. Her news experience also paved the way for fun guest appearances on popular TV shows such as The Doctors, American Idol, and The Wendy Williams Show.

Among her many interviews, the one that left the deepest impression on McGill was with a man who survived a tree-cutting accident that tore his face off. Facing near death, his foremost concern was not for himself but for his wife, as he didn’t want his disfigured appearance to be the last image she held of him. McGill was deeply moved by his love for his wife. Fortunately, his face was successfully reconstructed by skilled medical professionals and he made a strong recovery.
