Chris Alvarez Career
Alvarez works for KGO TV as a sports anchor and a reporter in San Francisco. He joined the KGO Sports team in August 2019. Chris played basketball and baseball at Clovis West High School and college baseball at Fresno Pacific University.
After hanging up the baseball cleats, Chris began his TV career in Fresno at KMPH-TV. Chris relocated to San Francisco to work at Comcast SportsNet Bay Area after graduating from college. Chris spent more than three years covering the greatest athletic events and players in the Bay Area, producing features, and hosting online videos.
Then it was off to Palm Springs, a desert town in Southern California, where Chris worked as the Sports Director for KESQ (ABC) and CBS Local 2.
After Palm Springs, he returned home to Fresno and worked for our sister station KFSN-TV there. Chris held jobs as a sports anchor/reporter, sports director, and fill-in news anchor throughout the course of four years. Highlights included reporting on the historic turnaround in Fresno State football, the NCAA bid in basketball for Fresno State in 2016, two World Series, and the 2017 MLB All-Star Game.
