In addition, Loam wrote, “Make Your Moment: The Savvy Woman’s Communication Playbook to Getting The Success You Want” (McGraw-Hill), which was inspired by her experiences as the first Asian American woman to run a weekday newscast in three significant markets, including Kansas City, Charlotte, and Tampa Bay.
Dion is dedicated to elevating the voices of people of color, and she has led the global effort to raise awareness of the prejudice and violence directed against Asian Americans in the Bay Area. On ABC News Live, Nightline, World News Now, Good Morning America, and 20/20, her work has generated widespread national interest.
Dion received recognition from the mayor and board of supervisors of San Francisco for her commitment to covering prejudice and xenophobia towards Black and Asian American populations.
She was further recognized as one of the 2021 Gold House 100 A1 most influential Asians for storytelling in the midst of the #StopAsianHate movement, together with Vice President Kamala Harris and other well-known AAPI activists. In addition, Dion is the first winner of SF Cause’s Champion of Truth award and a Dress for Success San Francisco 2022 honoree for her efforts to advance women in our neighborhood.
Dion was given a rare invitation to the White House during AAPI Heritage Month, where she met with Vice President Harris and President Biden and recognized the accomplishments of notable Asian Americans.
