Schultz launched her broadcasting career in Sacramento, where she worked as a writer and producer at KOVR. She then headed to the southeast region, joining WAGA in Atlanta as a reporter. During her 6 years in Atlanta, she covered crime and investigated community matters that impacted local viewers. She also did huge stories that took her all over the nation to cover stories like wildfires in Arizona, the tornado-devastated fields of Oklahoma, and snowstorms in Illinois.
