Maxfield works for NBC 4 New York as an Emmy Award-winning reporter and substitute anchor. Since April 2013, Maxfield has covered breaking news, and general assignment stories in New Jersey and serves as a fill-in anchor on all of NBC 4 New York’s newscasts.
Maxfield was employed by WABC’s Eyewitness News in New York City from 2002 until 2013 as a general assignment reporter, a correspondent for New Jersey, and a stand-in anchor.
Prior to working for WABC, Maxfield had general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor positions at WIVT in Binghamton, New York, as well as WIXT in Syracuse, New York. At CNN’s United Nations office, she began her professional career as an intern.
Over the course of her career, which spans more than two decades, Maxfield has written about many of the Tri-State’s most memorable and stirring stories.
The quick resignation of James McGreevey, the “Miracle on the Hudson” by Captain Sullenberger, the damage caused by Superstorm Sandy, and the response to the 2016 terror attacks in New York and New Jersey are just a few examples.
In January 2021, Maxfield received the prestigious Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Award for “creat(ing) a 360 view in real time of the coronavirus pandemic, with courageous and thorough reporting on the virus’s explosion in New York City.”
Maxfield’s anchoring and reporting were significant contributors to NBC 4 New York’s award-winning COVID-19 coverage. The duPont has long been seen as the counterpart of the Pulitzer Prize in television, documentaries, and online media, and is also presented by Colombia University
