Being at the forefront of history is not something that happens very often. Josh Gauntt, a reporter for WBRC FOX6 News, has spent time on a couple of those front lines over the years, sharing tales of survival, grief, and bringing about change with the government.
Most recently, he covered the Seffner sinkhole incident that killed a guy while he slept and garnered widespread media attention.
With the lovely Panama City Beach, Florida, NBC affiliate, WJHG, Josh began his one-man banding career. He claims that the most strange incident he covered was a man who shackled himself to his outside power box in order to save the life of his daughter.
Josh is a native of Alabama and was raised in the town of Valley. He worked at the on-campus station “TrojanVision News” after graduating from Troy University with a degree in broadcast journalism in 2007.
Josh’s work has won accolades from the Florida Associated Press, the Society of Professional Journalists, and an Emmy nomination for a portion of it that was part of a team effort, as well as an Emmy nomination for wildfire coverage in Florida and Associated Press awards
Josh enjoys sports a lot. One of his earliest gigs was filming baseball players for a Columbus, Georgia, minor league team. He loves classic music (especially anything from Motown) and is currently studying Spanish.
