Since he was young, O’Connor wanted to be a professional artist but didn’t think he was skilled enough. Thus, he transitioned to rugby before he discovered acting. At the age of 7, he secured his initial big role where he portrayed the scarecrow in a school production of The Wizard of Oz, succeeded by a small role in Bugsy Malone at St Edward’s. In Bugsy Malone, he acted with his classmate, Tahliah Barnett, who later became an awarded singer under the stage name FKA Twigs.
