One of Tallahassee’s most recognized smiles belongs to Montanaro. She has worked as an anchor and reporter for WCTV for more than 30 years, covering everything from divisive elections to famous court cases to terrible disasters. The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences selected Julie as a 2020 Sliver Circle honoree, which honors those who have made consistent contributions to television news and their communities for 25 years or more.
In collaboration with Leon County Schools and Second Harvest, Julie is the main force behind PBJ PLZ!, a WCTV initiative that collects lots of peanut butter and jelly for hungry children. She received the Service to America Award from the National Association of Broadcasters Leadership Foundation for the campaign in 2018.
Julie is a member of the board of directors for the United Way of the Big Bend and served as chair of its 2016 community campaign. She has volunteered with the Christmas Connection for a very long time and supports a lot of other charities all year with fundraising and events.
