Hurd is well-known to Portland Trail Blazers fans as he offers basketball analysis and insight on all Blazers broadcasts on Root Sports and via the team’s social media outlets. Hurd worked as a college basketball analyst for the Pac-12 Network for four years before joining the Blazers.
He has also broadcast games for ESPN and Fox Sports Northwest. He was the team’s starting point guard at OSU and was recognized with all-Pac-10 accolades, the team MVP, and a spot on the Pac-10 All-Academic first team.
Lamar received the Pac-10 Medal in 2006, which is given yearly to just one male and one female student-athlete from each university in the league who best embodies success on and off the field.
Hurd continues to be actively connected to Oregon State University in a number of capacities, including as a board member.
He worked with young basketball players all across the Portland metro area for ten years. He and his wife Bethany have launched Hurd Mentality, a television program, and an online series that chronicles how their lives intersect with volunteerism.
