Gallardo has vast experience in documentary production. For instance, she travelled to Thailand and Sri Lanka to document the Asian Tsunami and the aftermath. The documentary aired on The Weather Channel and National Geographic’s Storm Stories series, winning “Best Documentary” honors at the 2005 Telly Awards.
Gallardo’s on-camera career started at Television Azteca in Mexico City, where she worked as an entertainment reporter from 1998 to 2000. There, she regularly travelled to the U.S. to interview celebrities of that time. She then freelanced at CNN’s Mexico City bureau during the historic 2000 presidential elections, which marked the first defeat of Mexico’s ruling party in 70 years. Upon returning to the U.S., she landed jobs in Washington, D.C., as an associate producer for Hearst-Argyle TV and field producer for Conus Communications.
