He reports on weekdays at 5:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m., 6:30 p.m., and 10:00 p.m. on WKRG and at 9:00 p.m. on the Gulf Coast CW. He travels to the Gulf Coast via Tampa, Florida’s sister station, WFLA, which WKRG owns. Ed is from Tampa, by the way.

At the age of seven, Ed developed an intense interest in weather after witnessing the formation of a waterspout during a little league baseball game. Ed tracked tropical storms and hurricanes during the summer instead of sleeping in and watching Saturday morning cartoons.

He went on to work for one of the busiest weather markets in the nation, KTKA Topeka, in Kansas. Ed developed his forecasting abilities for heat waves, blizzards, and severe weather outbreaks while he was in Kansas.

He was given the responsibility of overseeing KTKA’s storm-chasing operations, which included setting up and managing many chase teams in northeast Kansas. Ed then traveled south to WJBF in Augusta, Georgia. He covered both the unprecedented Hurricane Joaquin rainfall in 2015 and the historic Georgia/South Carolina ice storm in 2014.

Ed assisted with the coverage of multiple significant weather events during his most recent assignment in Tampa, Florida, including Hurricane Matthew in 2016, Hurricane Irma in 2017, and Hurricane Michael in 2018. Bloodsworth is a current member of both the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society. He is an American Meteorological Society (AMS) Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM).

Ed enjoys discovering the best restaurants, local museums, and hiking and nature trails when he’s not forecasting for the Gulf Coast. Ed enjoys bowling a lot as well. He can be found in the area mentoring young bowlers and competing in regional competitions.
