Miller works as the chief meteorologist for WMAQ NBC 5 Chicago. His forecasts appear on weekdays at 4, 5, 6, and 10 p.m. When he joined the station, he first worked as a weekend weather forecaster before he was promoted to his current position. A private pilot, he has incorporated his expertise in aviation weather and meteorological studies at Mississippi State and Portland Universities.
Miller launched his forecasting career at Fox 32 in 1989. The American Meteorological Society awarded him its Seal of Approval for his TV and radio forecasts. He earned the Illinois Broadcasters Association’s First Place Silver Dome Best TV Weather Segment Awards in 1999 and 2000. In addition, he received Chicago Emmys for Chicago Auto Show specials in 1999 and 2000, as well as in 1997 for The StormTrackers weather special.
