Dunn works as a weekend evening meteorologist for 12 News. He covers everything from summer thunderstorms and monsoon seasons to unforeseen weather. He keeps the valley informed and prepared for their day, delivering accurate and engaging forecasts. His passion for weather sparked at the age of 12, after moving from Southern California to Louisiana. The new environment exposed him to turbulent storms succeeding his four seasons in Denver, Colorado.
Before joining the station, Dunn worked at WPMI in the Mobile Metropolitan Area as a chief meteorologist. While in Arizona, he also served as a chief meteorologist for CBS TV Channel 5. He served as the chief meteorologist for stations such as KDVR – FOX31 in Denver, KYW-TV in Philadelphia, and KUTV in Salt Lake City. He also worked as a News & Weather Anchor for KCPM-TV in Chico, California, and served at places like Miami and Fort Myers. Some of Dunn’s notable stories include extreme desert heatwaves, haboobs, hurricanes, blizzards, and Arctic outbreaks. He has received five Emmy Awards, two Associated Press Awards, the NWA TV Seal of Approval, and recognition from the National Weather Association. He is also among the first Certified Broadcast Meteorologists, coming in 9th in the state of the American Meteorological Society.
Aside from forecasting, he serves as an FAA-certified flight instructor and commercial pilot, and with more than 2,000 hours in the logbook, they have spent years navigating North American skies as a Pilatus PC-12 passenger captain. He also owned an avocado farm in Bonsall, San Diego, California.
