Travers works for FOX 2 as a weather reporter on television in St. Louis on weekend mornings and midday shows throughout the week. Jaime began her professional career at KFVS in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, before relocating to Tornado Alley to work at KSN in Wichita, Kansas.
Her fascination with tornadoes led to her interest in weather. The F4 tornado of January 1967 that tore through Chesterfield, Creve Coeur, and Maryland Heights in St. Louis County completely destroyed her dad’s childhood house there. Her reaction led her to wonder “why weather happens.”
Jaime began her professional career at KFVS in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, before relocating to Tornado Alley to work at KSN in Wichita, Kansas. She received her Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation from the American Meteorological Society in December 2014.
Jaime volunteered as a student in the Peachtree City, Georgia, National Weather Service office while she was a student at Georgia Tech. Later, Her thesis looked into meteorological conditions related to the disastrous flooding that occurred in Nashville, Tennessee, in May 2010.
The straightforward statement that “flooding is the leading cause of weather-related deaths” served as the inspiration for this study.
Her research findings were used to create products for National Weather Service offices across the nation while she was a student at SLU. In the summer of 2010, Jaime also worked as an intern at KTVI/KPLR.
Jaime likes to practice yoga, go outside, and support the Cardinals and Blues in her own time. Enjoying a bike ride through Missouri’s wine region on the Katy Trail is a great day trip. Jaime likes to throw barbecues on the terrace or cook in private with her family, which includes her husband Evan, daughter Hazel, and Pomeranian, Amber.
