Dobson secured a weekday evening position at WNKY in Bowling Green, Kentucky, while still in college. She then relocated to Decatur, Illinois, as the morning meteorologist at WAND. There, she witnessed cold winters, wind chills of below 40 degrees, and severe summer storms.
Following her time in Illinois, Dobson joined WMBF in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. While at WMBF, she tracked tropical storms, the heat, humidity, and hurricanes. She then worked as a weekend meteorologist at WAVE in Louisville, Kentucky, for 2 years before coming to Florida.
