Daniel works for WBRC FOX6 as a digital meteorologist and weather producer. He produces weather content on Monday-Friday for Good Day Alabama. Before joining the station in August 2018, Daniel worked at 13WMAZ as a weekend meteorologist.
He was the weekend and early-morning meteorologist on 13WMAZ for four years before moving from Macon, Georgia. Every Monday through Friday, Matt creates weather content for Good Day Alabama and shares a ton of it on social media and via the WBRC First Alert Weather app.
Since he was three years old, Matt has had an interest in the weather. He particularly likes studying tropical cyclones and forecasting the weather. Matt has earned numerous accolades for his exceptional forecasting abilities and advanced to the final four of a national weather forecasting competition that matches professors, graduate students, and undergraduates.
For the finest use of digital platforms and social media at 13WMAZ,, as well as for the best severe weather coverage, Matt has also been honored with a Gabby award.
While employed at 13WMAZ, Matt also worked as a freelance weather producer at CNN, where he had the opportunity to cover weather, climatic, and scientific issues for both domestic and foreign audiences worldwide. When he worked for CNN, Matt reported on typhoons like Haiyan, earthquakes, tsunamis, plane crashes, floods, droughts, and extreme weather.
As a committed American Meteorological Society member, he takes pleasure in interacting with the public through events and educational programs in order to raise knowledge of the weather.
Matt enjoys playing a number of instruments, such as the piano, guitar, and trumpet, and writing and performing music in his free time. Because of the lower humidity, cooler weather, and, of course, SEC College Football, Matt considers the fall to be his favorite season.
