Butler works as a meteorologist for ABC7 Chicago News This Morning, a role she has held since 1995. In addition, she is a meteorologist on ABC7’s 11 a.m. newscasts and provides weather updates for ESPN 1000 Radio.

Butler is a devoted fan of ABC Daytime’s General Hospital and occasionally co-hosts “Soap Chat” with fellow enthusiast Diane Pathieu, whose reports appear on Facebook. She is the longest-tenured female meteorologist in Chicago and serves as a member of the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society.

Butler annually contributes to the live coverage of the Chicago Auto Show in February. Additionally, she plays at the Chicago Automobile Trade Association’s annual golf outings. She had previously co-hosted the Chicago Air & Water Show and All-Star Shootout Golf Show.

Butler previously worked as the co-host of the Chicago Air & Water Show and All-Star Shootout Golf Show on ABC 7. In addition, she filled in for weather actors Spencer Christian and Tony Perkins on ABC’s Good Morning America from 1993 to 2022.

Butler loves seeing children express their creativity through drawing and painting and supports their talent via the Weather Sketcher’s Club. In this capacity, she motivates children under the age of 13 to share their weather-related drawings for possible airing on ABC 7 News This Morning.

Butler serves as an MC for numerous charities, including the annual MS Walk for Charity and the Les Turner ALS Walk for Life. Moreover, she is affiliated with the ReClaim 13 charity, which focuses on bringing child sex exploitation to an end and bringing awareness to human trafficking.

Butler and co-director Scott Woodruff started a golf outing called The Duke Classic in 2013 to honor the death of the long-serving ABC 7 cameraman, Michael Dukewich, who died in 2012. The outing has raised almost $100,000 to benefit the Greater Chicago Food Depository and the Wounded Warrior Project.
