Wholey works for KJRH as a meteorologist, he joined the 2 News Oklahoma Weather Team in December 2015. From 2008 through 2015, Wholey served as the Chief Meteorologist for KRNV, the NBC station in Reno, Nevada. There, he kept note of the earthquakes, wildfires, severe thunderstorms, flash flooding, snowstorms, and drought that would affect the high desert and Sierra.
He frequently visited schools to speak with children about my career and the weather. He was also a highly involved member of the community, offering his time at charitable events. Wholey had a few appearances on The Weather Channel and was a prominent NBC affiliate meteorologist in a major documentary. It illustrated the severe weather individuals endured during the gold rush in Bodie, California, a well-known Sierra ghost town.
Wholey was chosen in 2016 as one of a select group of TV meteorologists to test out brand-new forecasting formulas in combination with the GOES-R satellite. Utilizing the satellite’s new lightning detection technology to check on the severity and decay of violent thunderstorms was one aspect of the testing. The testing was carried out during a session held at the National Weather Center in Norman. The Atlantic Ocean and the eastern United States are presently covered by the satellite in operation.
