Mike’s connections to the Kansas City metropolitan area have persisted even after graduation, during which time he traversed the country working in various places.
Mike and his family have traveled all around the country because of his profession. He has witnessed a wide range of constantly changing weather conditions first-hand while working for stations including KMSP in Minneapolis, KGO in San Francisco, KARK in Little Rock, WBTV in Charlotte, and KTBS in Shreveport.
For the past 15 years, Mike has worked at the ABC-owned and -operated station in the San Francisco Bay Area. But throughout his 27-year career, his goal had remained the same: he wanted to return home and work as the chief meteorologist in Kansas City.
He has reported on violent storms, tornadoes, hurricanes, ice storms, blizzards, roaring wildfires, droughts, and even earthquakes during the course of his career. Mike is an expert at describing microclimates and how quickly the weather can change. He has a strong interest in climate science and keeps up with global weather and climate studies.
