She became part of WBRC 6 News in September 2019, where she serves as an anchor and member of the 6 On Your Side Investigates team. Just two days after graduating from college, Morgan Hightower launched her journalism career in Montgomery, Alabama. Almost ten years and several roles later, she is excited to have returned to Alabama.

While working in Montgomery, she helped launch the newsroom at the local ABC affiliate. As part of a small team, she took on multiple responsibilities, including shooting, writing, editing, producing, and anchoring her own stories. This hands-on role allowed her to report on major events such as a federal corruption trial, coverage at the State House, and most notably, the devastating tornado outbreak in April 2011. She told the stories of families rebuilding their lives, followed recovery efforts closely, and investigated missing FEMA payments.

After her time in Montgomery, Hightower relocated to Greensboro, North Carolina, where she spent five years at the CBS affiliate. She began as a reporter and was later promoted to anchor. During her time there, she conducted investigative reports focused on government spending and accountability. One of her most memorable assignments was covering the 70th anniversary of D-Day in Bedford, Virginia. She traveled with World War II veterans, sharing their powerful firsthand accounts. The station’s coverage of the event earned an Emmy Award.

Hightower served as a news anchor and reporter in Nashville, Tennessee, where she reported on public safety, government misconduct, and political affairs. Among the most significant events she covered were the devastating mass shootings at a local church and a Waffle House in Antioch. She led extended live coverage during the unfolding tragedies and continued in-depth reporting for months, tracking the investigations and subsequent legal proceedings.
