Pete Grigsby is an American working in the field of meteorology as a weekend evening meteorologist for KMBC 9 News. He joined the station in 1999 and has served the station for more than 20 years. Before moving to Kansas City, he worked in Virginia, Indiana, and Kentucky.

However, he decided to focus on studies in broadcast journalism and meteorology and turn away from sports.

Grigsby works for KMBC’s First Alert Weather team as a weekend evening meteorologist. With 30 years of experience in the field, he worked in Virginia, Indiana, and Kentucky as a meteorologist before moving to Kansas City.

After working at KMBC for nearly 10 years, Grigsby decided to change his career because he wanted to create a schedule that would allow him to spend more time with his family. In this capacity, he accepted a media director and instructor position at Blue Springs School District. As an administrator, he manages and directs content for BSSD TV, an educational TV station, and BSSD Radio, a high school music radio. He also teaches a Meteorology class at Blue Springs South High School and teaches high school TV and radio broadcast classes.

Grigsby holds the “Seal of Approval” from the American Meteorological Society and has won an Emmy Award for Team Coverage of the May tornado outbreak in 2020. He spent three years as the chief meteorologist at WTKR News 3 in Norfolk, Virginia. Additionally, he was the chief meteorologist at WEVV in Evansville, Indiana, and WBKO in Kentucky.
