Iboshi works for KGW as an award-winning investigative news reporter. He joined the station in 2000, and since then Kyle has reported on a range of regional, governmental, and international stories. After the 2004 tsunami, Kyle went to Sri Lanka.
He also covered the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada, for nearly a month. Kyle also covered the 9/11 anniversary live from New York City. He covered news for KLAS-TV (CBS) in Las Vegas, Nevada, from 1996 to 2000.
Kyle received a scholarship from the RIAS Germany-U.S. Journalists Exchange in 2008, which allowed him to go to Berlin, Prague, and Brussels, where he spoke with local authorities, journalists, and representatives of the EU and NATO.
Kyle was chosen to take part in the Korea-U.S. Journalists Exchange in 2011 by the East-West Center. Kyle visited different parts of South Korea while on the fellowship to meet with academics, military, and government representatives.
The fellowship condensed fundamental legal concepts into a seminar presented by judges, lawmakers, and Loyola Law faculty.
Kyle was chosen for the coveted Kiplinger Fellowship in 2017. At Ohio State University, Kyle took journalism courses alongside students from other countries.
At KDRV-TV (ABC) in Medford, Oregon, he had his first position. He relocated to Bend, Oregon, in 1996 to serve as a morning anchor for KTVZ-TV (NBC). He has taken part in the FBI Citizen’s Academy as well as the Press Broadcast Council of the Oregon State Bar.
Award
Through a global reporting fellowship from the International Center for Journalists, Kyle visited Japan in 2013. For his special report on Japanese tsunami debris, Kyle was recognized with an Emmy and an Asian American Journalists Association national reporting prize.
For his coverage of consumer protection problems, including a series of investigations titled “The Cost of Collections” that looked at the harsh methods the government uses to get people to pay up, Kyle earned the Oregon State Bar Consumer Law Section’s Award of Merit in 2020.
Kyle has won numerous awards on a national, local, and regional level, including recognition from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Radio Television Digital News Association, Associated Press, Oregon Association of Broadcasters, AAJA, and Electronic Media Awards.
